Iraqometer. Boils the whole conflict down to a series of statistics. Just goes to show you that statistics are a great way to manipulate the truth, to whatever end.

In other exciting news, I'm raising money to buy this WWII era Oerlikon 20mm AA gun. Right now I lack about $31,952.60 (after transfer, shipping, insurance and Class 3 FFL). It's for home defense. I'm going to put it in the hallway outside my bedroom, in case of intruders. Which reminds me that I'll need a few grand more than that so that I can cut a whole in the floor and put in a reinforced concrete pier to mount the piece on.

Seriously, though, if I ever had the money, I would spend it on this. How cool would it be to own such a piece of Americana?

Old perv almost beats the system.

I guess I don't understand. The headline says Ashcroft has issued a ruling, but the article says it's an opinion. But now a bunch of civil rights groups are going to appeal that ruling? Can Ashcroft really legislate like this?

This, coupled with the government's potential ability to revoke citizenship, make habeas corpus obsolete. Who voted for the evil whackjobs, anyway?

While I must say that I like how you can order all kinds of small items for delivery to your house from homedepot.com, I am disappointed that you can't browse store-purchase only items. I want to get price estimates for various projects, but all of them require items that aren't delivered, and so don't show up on the online store.

Princess Dianna wanted a ban on landmines, Paul McCartney wants a ban on cluster bombs, Janeane Garofalo probably wants a ban on all western militaries and Michael Jackson wants a ban on mean people. I'm sorry, but who cares? I want a ban on marginally informed celebrities, "benefits" and vanity charities.

Beth tells me it was an entire bottle of port and a half a fifth of brandy. If she doesn't kick his ass monday night after he's recovered, then there is something wrong with her.

I don't think I've ever known anyone to drink a fifth of brandy.

Having just gotten home from my whirlwind tour of Austin and Houston, and inspired by Andy, I decided to open a good bottle of port I bought a few weeks ago. When I was walking through my kitchen barefoot, I realized that I had a broken window. The culprit appears to be a piece of plastic pipe which is pretty chewed up and looks like it was thrown by a lawn mower. At least I have a good reason to replace that window(a horizontal slider) with one I can put a window-unit A/C in, and just in time for summer.

I don't recall devin ever saying anything about the wonders of drinking a fifth of brandy.

I remember knowing a girl named Brandy when I was in middle school. I remember thinking she was a hottie. I also remember that her parents were devout baptists.

I had homework to do, but now I can't draw a straight line to save my life. Damn you, Devin.

I owe some thanks to Devin for introducing me to Port. What a decent thing the Portuguese have done for us. Vinho de Portugal. Woohoo!

I can't think of anything else to write. I figured out what I wanted to say beforehand, but I can't remember now. Happy Easter, Everybody!
