YAAARG!! I'm Cap'n Cervix!!

But seriously folks, I think the fact that I found this site says a bit more than I wanted. Oh well, I gotta be a pirate now and then.

What's this talk of our country going bankrupt while our leadership is off fighting it's splendid little wars? Not to worry, our fearless leader has one eye on the budget.

According to this one single article that is only one of two I've found so far, the UN has covered up its reproduction of Picasso's Guernica. This is allegedly because it would be inappropriate for Negroponte or Powell to discuss war with an anti-war painting for a backdrop. This article may be fake; it is certainly poorly worded.

Here's one other off-handed mention.

I just finished making the site look different. I'd like to thank the Federal Government, without whom this new look and feel would not be possible.

It looks like DARPA redesigned their website, too. They certainly did change the old, ominous TIA logo to this much more benign version.

We should build an autonomous vehicle to compete in the DARPA Autonomous Vehicle Challenge. The prize is 1 million dollars! Seriously, I think we could easily win this.

That Johnny Cash album is pretty good, actually. It also has Personal Jesus, originally performed by Depeche Mode, and Hung My Head by Sting, as well as a few originals and a lot of old country covers, like Desperado, I'm So Lonesome, and Tear Stained Letter. It is not quite all acoustic, and mostly slow, sad songs.

Yes, indeed. 18 times the speed of light. I prefer to think of it as hyperbole, and not a factual error.

Holy circumcision, Batman! Did you say 18 times the speed of light, Andy? No wonder the thing came apart, but I'm surprised they were even effected by Earth's gravity at all. I knew all along that the CIA and NASA were collaborating with aliens...

7-Eleven is introducing smart cards, which carry a cash balance.

In honor of Uncle George's post, I changed the "Who Are We?" pic from Kim "Ill Communication" Jong-Il to something more relevant.

I think the seven dead in the Shuttle accident get so much more coverage because they hurtled into our atmosphere at 18 times the speed of light, blew up 40 miles above the earth, and coated East Texas with toxic debris. Now THAT is exciting. What's seven Canadians, more or less?

And speaking of the dastardly Canadians, I should have known they'd have a hand in this.

Saw in the NY Times this morning that 7 Canadian students were killed in an avalanche. Public reaction? Nothing. A few weeks ago 7 Yale students killed in an accident on icy roads. Public concern? Zip. So 7 astronauts die in a shuttle accident, the country flips out. What does this say about the value of human lives? I could probably quantify by dividing the column inches devoted in the papers to the three accidents and come up with a fraction re students vs astronauts. So I'm not cynical about media reportage, and public reactions to tragedies, am I?

This morning while I was getting ready for work, I turned on VH1 and there was Johnny Cash playing "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails. Just when you think the world has run out of surprises...

AOL is sexist. On the intro window, which is the only one you can't close, they have a little Valentine's day blurb, with :
For Her: Sweet Indulgence
For Him: Fun Gadgets & More

Why is it assumed that women would want candy, and men would want steak knives, a money clip, or a razor? To hell with that, I want chocolate!
