Speaking of Denton, there is a lot of development in the works. As you all may know, the old steam power plant building is being renovated and turned into the new central fire station. This is an idea past due, since the current central has severe foundation problems, as it was built on a spring. You know that rule of thumb about a spring being halfway down a hillside? Well the current fire station is halfway down the hill that the courthouse sits on. Top that with black mold, so the building can't be occupied, and is used only as a garage, with all admin and living quarters temporarily next door.

Then there's the Sam's Club going in behind Wal-Mart, a new 52 acre shopping center going in across the road from said Wal-Mart, a water park and natatorium off of the north side of the loop, and a fancy new library branch off Windsor.

I'll bet money on a new fire station being built in the next few years off I-35W towards Ft. Worth as well. With a 7,500 house community under construction and seven minute response times, I'd almost guarantee it.

With all this growth in the area, I think it's about time Sanger got a pawnbroker.

So, how 'bout dem Bears?

I've been enjoying my respite from manual labor these past few days. Christmas was good, but I ate too much. To be entirely accurate, I drank way too much homemade eggnog, which is extremely filling, as did everyone in my family. We in fact could barely eat any of our Christmas dinner.

I got mostly clothes for Christmas, including this coat in charcoal from my mom and dad. My brother got me this pistol, only he didn't pay such an outrageous price for it I hope. Mine was born in 1982, so it was assembled in Belgium instead of Portugal(a fine detail, the gun is still manufactured in Belgium, but assembled in Portugal), and has only the right hand safety instead of ambidexterous. Interesting detail, the magazine is matte chromed as well. Mine also has an adjustable rear site which I don't think is original. I've never owned a chrome gun before, and never heard of a chrome Hi Power before. I guess Browning doesn't make the exact model anymore, since it isn't listed on their website...

I guess I'd have a pretty bad attitude too, if I were the only country to ever be declared war upon by the entire WORLD (minus two minor abstentions).

Houston is okay. It's just a little too big, and smelly in parts. I have to deal with these problems because my parents live on opposite sides of town from each other (50 miles apart), and my dad's part of town requires me to drive through pasedena(smells).

I sorta got fed up with the fact that I'm the one that has to deal with this problem when I'm not the one that got a divorce, so I told my dad that he should drive through stinkville to come see me at my apartment this year for christmas. And since it's been over twelve (12) months since he's made any attempt to come see me at my apartment, I didn't feel so bad about pitching a 24-year-old version of a fit.

Denton is this great big pit where everything just gets swallowed up. I remember when I was sixteen, people on Fry Street joking about how Denton is a huge black hole; even when you leave, you just get sucked back in. Such a stupid idea, but not all too untrue. I don't think that Denton is so unique, it's just one of those places that lets you wash away your dreams.

Brandon Vicedomini once said that alcohol (and other drugs) help overcome all of the baggage, the stuff we carry around, and release us to be ourselves; if only for a few hours. I think it makes us let go of more than just that baggage. It also washes away super-egoist pursuits. It's a double-edged sword.

Last year I felt out of place with the world, like I wasn't where I was supposed to be. I thought I'd gotten over that until someone tapped me on the shoulder tonight.

So I took off today in expectation of hanging out with my sister, who was supposed to get here today. But that got all f-ed up due to my cheap-ass parents trying to get comped tickets through some friend that works for Continental. I think this was the first weekday that I've been off work that I've just sat around on my ass since... i'm not sure. Maybe since college? It's not like I never sit around on my ass. I do it all the time on the weekends, and on weekdays after work. But nevermind, that's not important, it's the weekday afternoon thing that's important.

I flipped through some of those cable channels that I never watch, and I saw 5 minutes of Spongebob Squarepants. Luckily I turned the channel before my head exploded. That is just about the most coked-up cartoon since I don't know what. After that I watched the oddtodd cartoons again. Then I had some ice cream and some chips and salsa before playing a few hours of mechassault on xbox-live.

I think I could really enjoy doing this permanently again, if it didn't mean selling everything I own and moving in with one of my parents. I guess I really shouldn't go back to college, though. I hear it's harder to fake your way through an MS than a BS.

My Christmas gift to all of you.

Unless the DNC paid for Thurmond's birthday party, Lott didn't fall into any trap. What an idiot. "...there were those who had been gunning for his resignation." I guess they were wasting their time, since he pulled the trigger of his own accord.

The thing that's funny about this whole thing is that Lott effectively ended his political career with one ill-considered remark, but Thurmond's campaign on a segregationist ticket hasn't slowed him down at all. What sense does that make?

Trent Lott is the victim of a vast left-wing conspiracy.

In other unrelated news, now that Al Gore has opted for the Richard Nixon route to the presidency, Hillary Clinton would be the front runner to be the '04 democratic nominee for president, if she wanted it. Yikes.
