What is the Matrix? It's a good thing the government is on our side. They are on our side, right?

Another story about the possible threat against Pasedena, Tx. Apparently there are about 141 refineries and chemical plants in the general vicinity of Pasedena. And if you drive through pasedena, you will see that they are practically right on top of one another. The FBI still publicly says that they think the threat is really against Pasedena, California, though. I hope they aren't being serious. The only possible value of Pasedena, CA as a terrorist target would be during the Rose Bowl parade. Hmmm, 141 chemical plants and refineries that could be set off like a string of firecrackers, or the home of the rose bowl parade. Lemme think about this....

Pasedena, TX is a suburb of Houston along the Ship Channel. This story says that there are "some" refineries in Pasedena. Really, I think Pasedena has the largest, or close to the largest, concentration of oil refineries in the US. That's why it smells so bad when you drive through the southeast side of town. One upside, though, is that there are a lot of rednecks with shotguns in their pickups in pasedena. And after they hear about this article, I'm sure the ones that keep their shotguns in their homes will start keeping them with them in their pickups. My dad lives in La Porte, which is about 5 miles down the road from Pasedena. If one or more of these oil refineries or chemical plants were set off in the right way, there could be a pretty big problem for this whole county.

Oh, there's also a private airstrip about 100 yards from my dad's house. I should call and ask my dad if he's noticed if they've shut down the airstrip. What exciting times...

This is rich. I can't find a source for this, but I heard on Paul Harvey Wednesday about a lawsuit out west where a woman in a furniture store sued the store after falling down and breaking an ankle tripping over an out- of-control toddler. The jury awarded her $800,000, despite the fact that the out--of-control toddler was hers. This is called justice.

My state is doomed. School children failed a standardized writing test, so we threw out the results.

Ever heard of an explosive decompression?

Cheney is being sued for his accounting practices when he was head of Halliburton. The article has a few other interesting points, but mostly I think it's a case of European liberal media jumping the gun on our Executive Branch's shady financial pasts. Yes, we all know they're crooked, but we're still in the grasping-at-straws phase.

I think I posted a link a while back that said Halliburton was convicted by a federal judge of using forced labor during construction of a gas pipeline in Burma or someplace. That was during Cheney's tenure as CEO, as well. It's funny how these things just don't make the news here. Clinton had some questionable real estate dealings, and he lied about getting a BJ from his intern. Our current Vice President ran a company that used SLAVES, but we as Americans can't be bothered to look into that. As long as we can get financing for our SUVs and our cellphones get decent reception, who the hell cares what's going on in the rest of the world?

Congress is a little shady, as well.

I was just informed that "bitte" in german can mean "thank you" or "please". I had previously assumed it meant "bitch". For everybody who knew me my sophomore year at UT, I think this should go far in partly explaining why I had such a weird attitude.
