My brother and I were inspired by the 27th, and coz Candice, my brother's wife, wanted to shoot skeet again, and Seth and I got back from running errands after dark, we came up with a new twist on sporting clays. Seth got a spotlight for Christmas, and we had leftover clays from Thursday, so we tried spotlight sporting clays. It worked out really well. One person would spot, and another would shoot. The clays, painted bright orange to be seen during the day, glowed under the beam of the spotter. It was surreal, kind of like an old Atari game, or UFOs. We shot until 11:30. I love living in the country. No meddlesome neighbors, no noise or firearm restrictions, and no leash laws.
It sounds like Bill is going to try to do the lakehouse thing again this year, in case anyone other than he and I are still in Denton for New Years. Contact him for details.

And I leave you with this.

After talking to Andy, the plan for the 27th is to meet up in the morning and go to my brother's house to shoot and eat BBQ.
The menu right now stands as smoked venison, pork ribs, and any smoked ham left over from my brother's shindig on the 26th. If anyone wants anything else make your requests now, cooking takes 18 hours. There is prolly gonna be alot of food left from the 26th, so I don't think we'll need to worry about getting anything else. If we're lucky, there'll be tamales from Veronica's Cafe too.
Right now I think the plan is to shoot sporting clays, and Jeremy wants to shoot his AR-15, so we can shoot rifles as well. I have a ton of 38 spl and 9mm ammo loaded up if we want to round out the event. I have ~100 rounds 20 ga, 300+ rounds 12 ga, and a few shotguns for the borrowing. Most of the 12 gauge are heavy game loads, tho. Need clays and ear protection. A brick of 22LR might be good too. If anyone wants to get 16 gauge ammo, my brother owns mostly 16 gauge shotguns.
I think Andy is going to meet people in Denton, then drive or caravan out to Era, talk to him for more info. Directions are as follows:
(Mostly) Paved Route: Go North on I-35 about 8 miles past Sanger to Valley View. Exit FM 922, and turn left(West). After 5.2 miles turn left(South) on CR 321. After 1.8 miles turn left(East) on CR317 (no sign). This is a gravel road. Go .8 miles. There will be a black mailbox, the first mailbox on the road I think, and a round bale painted 'Merry Xmas' at the driveway.
Fastest Route: Go North on I-35 about 5 miles past Sanger. Exit Lone Oak Rd and turn left(West). At T(.7 miles), turn right(North). After 1.5 miles, there will be a metal guardrail with orange stripes on your right, and a road to your left. Turn left(West). This deadends into a paved road(2848). Turn left(Southwest). 2848 will curve due West, then pavement will end at a 4-way intersection(The thriving metropolis of Lois, Texas). At intersection, turn right(North). Follow this road til it ends, and turn left(West). After a few hundred yards, there will be a jog to the left(South) then back right(West) and a road going North. Follow jog South then West. The driveway is 1.7 miles from the intersection that is Lois. It will have a black mailbox and a roundbale by the driveway.
You can split the difference and take 922 to 2848(see map). It would be faster than the paved route but have more gravel road by about 1 mile.
