Since Beth is in St. Louis this weekend, I thought I'd order some Chinese food delivered. We just got a flier on our door this morning saying the Asian Buffet restaurant does free delivery. They told me I have to go pick it up myself. I guess that's why delivery is free.

Just watched The Score with Robert DeNiro. If you ever have two and a half hours to kill, I guess that movie's as good as any. After I get my Chinese food, I'm going to watch Once Upon a Time In China III, followed by Hard Boiled. Woohoo! It's Asian night at the Thomas household!

Trials and tribulations of a cat owner. I had fed and watered my herd Thursday morning, and was preparing to go to work. I grabbed a stack of papers I was to give back to students, rushed out of my kitchen into what I call the back room, slipped on an unnoticed pile of cat shit (they have constructed a virtual litter box extending three feet in every direction from the real one), fell flat on my face, and deposited the stack of papers in another pile. This room is like a mine field. I had some difficulty explaining to the students why their papers were covered with shit. Glib-tongued devil that I am, I told them since their papers were on a project describing unknown bacteria, I just added a few more unknowns. They didn't take it too well. I am now trying to get the cats to take their business outside. The problem is that one of them, Fluffball, who Andy and Beth met last summer, leaks. She just can't help drizzeling as she walks.

Andy gave me Mac OS X for Christmas (I'm an infidel when it comes to anything Microsoft) and it has some beautiful screensavers. One shows the Aurora Borealis from the space shuttle. Awesome.

Andy's mother (my very own sister) informs me the Denton Raiders are HOT this year. Playing for the state football championship tonight.

I just got back from the company christmas party. It was almost as pointless as the parties we used to have in austin. There were just about the same number of attractive single females at this party as the ones we used to have(approaching zero), but there was unlimited free wine and beer. No hard liquor, though. Something about the Junior League not wanting to bother with the licenses. I don't know. So now I'm wishing I had a couch or futon on which to pass out.

How about that, I can get sauced and not even miss a beat on my grammar. And you liberal arts bastards used to criticize my engineering education as vocational. Wankers.

I've been thinking about what we should do with the American found fighting for the Taliban. I've decided that the best, most fair course of action is to revoke his citizenship and turn him back over to the Northern Alliance. We didn't charge Jane Fonda with Treason for manning North Vietnamese antiaircraft guns against American pilots--why should this man be charged with Treason for fighting with one foreign army against another foreign army? The Americans who fought in the Lincoln Brigade were allowed to return to the US, as are Americans who serve in the French Foreign Legion. I don't know what happened to the Americans who served with the German Army during WWII, but they certainly weren't charged with Treason. Etc., etc.

Our stance should be that Walker made his choice, and now he gets to live with it. I hear that the Northern Alliance has a special soft spot in their hearts for foreign Taliban...

I want to make a joke about your terrible recipe and how you can taste 20,000 dollars, but it's really too much trouble. It's the thought that counts, though, right?

Also, will someone please email me on Sunday afternoon so that I'll remember to file for my unemployment check?

I'm gonna get rich via the 2nd Annual Campbell's Soup Recipe Contest.

Since I've been living the bachelor life in rural North Texas, and can no longer afford to eat out 14 meals a week like the dotcommer I once was, much afford less drive into town every day, I've started getting creative in the kitchen. First, an inventory of my kitchen. Starches: 12 packs of Ramen, 1/2 bag flour, 1/2 bag corn meal, 1/4 pack Basmati rice. Vegetables: 4 sweet potatoes, one bottle ketchup, 1/2 white onion, 1/2 jar jalapenos. Meat: deep freeze containing 80 pounds deer meat, 30 pounds beef bones(for dogs), 4 pounds breakfast sausage. Canned Goods: (note: these were inherited from my brother when he got married. I didn't make any of these selections.) 8 cans Ranch Style Beans with Jalapenos, 9 cans tuna in spring water, 1 can condensed milk, one can pitted olives, 4 cans Campbells 98% Fat Free Cream of Mushroom Soup, 2 cans green beans, 1 can Rotel Tomatoes, 3 cans corn.

Yesterday I made corn bread. That was good for two meals and desert. The prospect fo corn bread for dinner today seemed unappetizing, so I went for the canned goods. The little recipe I concocted is a real winner, and I'm sure I've got the grand prize in the bag: In saucepan, heat 1 can green beans with water, 1 can tuna, 1 can Campbells Cream of Mushroom Soup, add 2 diced jalapenos, salt, pepper and fajita seasoning to taste, and serve in pan. If you're expecting company(wink wink), add one pack cooked ramen noodles. Girls love a guy who knows his way around the kitchen.

Man, I can taste those 20,000 dollars.

Since Andy's going to be an architect, he's going to need some new and expensive tools. I would suggest a Wacom pad. I think I'm going to get my sister one of these for christmas. Don't tell her. I think I'm gonna get her the 6x8 Intuos2. Andy, you should get a Cintiq combination LCD Display/Drawing pad.

I'm on cnn's breaking news mail list. I like getting this kind of mail. It makes me smile.

BREAKING NEWS from CNN.com

-- Osama bin Laden is believed to be surrounded by opposition and U.S. forces in a cave complex at Tora Bora, a senior military official tells CNN.

Arms race? I don't really think so. Russia doesn't have the budget for a full-on arms race. At the time of the Kursk disaster, I read somewhere that they could only field a tiny portion of their nuclear submarines. Less than ten, I believe. And they have to take tourists into space in order to keep their space operation in business. I think scrapping the ABM Treaty was a really stupid move on Bush's part, but I don't think it necessarily means the approach of World War III. It's just bad foreign policy. And bad domestic policy for that matter. I don't know that there's popular support for this anywhere in the country. I hope it doesn't trash our "fragile coalition." The Northern Alliance wouldn't have gotten anywhere if Russia hadn't given them all those 50 year old tanks...

Laid-Off Website Designer Designs Website About Being Laid Off.

I know everybody knows where the onion is, but this is willworkforflooz after all. It seemed wrong that this wouldn't be mentioned.

Is Andy only going to be allowed to play on the 27th? What about the 28th? Or the night of the 26th?

The cable guy just got here 45 minutes ago. It's 11:45pm. He fixed my cable. He's putting in another outlet right now. He's drilling holes in the walls. This is good for me, but it's almost midnight and he's working on my cable. Doesn't this guy have a family? It's a wednesday night for Christ's sake.

Oh, you'll be seeing "Beth" for Christmas. I can promise you that.

As for New Year's, Beth and I will be either in Virginia or North Carolina, whichever is closer. I'll most likely be embarking on a new career as a maintenance man on Jan. 2.

What's the plan for New Year's Eve? We could forgo the bonfire, etc. this year and just go out on the town, assuming people are still around.

So, I guess we won't be seeing Beth for Christmas?

I think it also depends on the crawl-space. Pierre and Ian and Sara and Erin and Kristen's house in Austin, for instance, has a 'crawl-space' which is over 5 feet tall under most of the house, in some places taller. A more traditional crawl-space would be difficult to work in though, and if you wanted to inhabit the living areas above it you'd want to make sure that your grave is deep enough to prevent odors from escaping, which increases the amount of work, but prevents immediate detection.

If you think it's easy to dig a grave in a crawl-space, you're wrong.

The Waco controversy arises again. No surprises here. A woman analyzed the findings for two years and now claims that the flashes on the FLIR tape were most likely caused by gunfire from Federal Agents. The government wisely decided not to comment, and let this little newsbyte fade into the realm of conspiracy theory.

I was just watching rugby. I didn't even know there was an American rugby team, but there is. They're playing South Africa. I can't figure out what the hell the rules are. It seems like it's completely arbitrary, with the ref pretty much making the game up as it goes along. I definitely agree with the people who say American football is for wusses, though. These guys get knocked ass over teakettle with no padding, then ground into the dirt underneath people hitting them at a dead run, and then they get up and start running again. Good lord.

I saw Geraldo do a live report a few days ago. He thought he was going to get to show us a live B-52 attack, but it turned out that the B-52 didn't end up dropping like he was expecting. He was twitching and kept looking up at the sky. I think Geraldo has decided that his journalism career is pretty much over, so he is going to try to go out with a splash in Afghanistan. Maybe this way he'll get to write a few books if he doesn't get killed.

Friday I spent a good portion of the day thinking of a new name for the project I'm working on. I finally came to Socket-Module Parts-List And Net-List Creator(SPANC). As I'm sure you can guess, I was very pleased with myself.

Geraldo Rivera is a freak. I saw a report he did the other day. He was wearing all black, except for a red bandana on his head. Now it turns out he's carrying a gun and would personally take out Osama, given the chance. We need more hands-on, paramilitary reporters like this. Reporters who go out and make news happen, instead of the little current events snitches we currently have. I can't wait for Fox to air the footage of Geraldo storming Osama's cave complex, complete with the sound of the camera crew crying in the background as they chase Geraldo the lunatic through the cave. It'll be just like the end of the Blair Witch Project.
