Mine is actually going to be 929 sq ft. the balcony is included in that, though, and it's 93 sq ft. Mine also has a larger closet than the one in the link. So there.

Who said that news and advertisements would blur together so as to be indistinguishable?

Nice apartment, but it seems way overpriced. $740 a month for less than 800 sq ft. What do I know, I live in a 900 sq ft house for free... I do like that the absolute smallest apartment listed has the byline 'Very Spacious'.

As for that nuke in the Soviet Embassy, the History Channel had a thing about it. I thought it was on the 5th floor. Supposedly we knew it was being brought in because of xray machines and Geiger counters and sech, but diplomatic immunity extended to all baggage carried by diplomats. Of course, supposedly we did the same thing in all of our embassies in Eastern European countries. How'd you like to be the diplomat that gets to carry a ten kilo sphere of bomb-grade plutonium in your briefcase?

A little news for all of you Denton people out there, I hung out with Amber Schrank Saturday. She's still chugging through med school, and next year she'll be doing clinicals in Harlingen, which is half way between South Padre and The Happiest Place on Earth, Matamoros.

Nice compressor.

Excuse me, it's a compensator. Or maybe just a flash supressor. Either way, it's cool as hell.

I'm moving into The Kiss. It sounds pretty limp-wristed, yes, but that kind of fluff should attract lots of single female renters, right? I'll let you know in a couple of weeks what my neighbors look like.

One other interesting thing I heard lately was that the Soviet Embassy had a nuclear device on the third floor, according to someone's account of an interview with President Kennedy.

I kept trying to mention this a few days ago, but then I kept forgetting to finish, and then my session on blogger would time out. But what I wanted to mention was that it seemed odd to me that a few days ago Mullah Omar was saying that he was beginning his plan to destroy the United States. It was never something anyone said on the news, it was always something in the little ticker line underneath the picture. I never found it mentioned in any articles online. Within 24 hours of the first time I saw that, the Pentagon started making its announcements that American troops were fighting on the ground in Afghanistan, trying to kill Taliban and Al Qaeda leaders. That was the first time they announced that our troops were in sustained conflicts, and not just hit and run missions. Is there a link between Mullah Omar's announcement and the Pentagon's announcement? Perhaps some kind of intelligence indicating that the Taliban/Al Qaeda had a weapon or plan that was a big enough threat that we needed to speed up the action? If there's no link, why should Americans be fighting on the ground now? The Northern Alliance has been doing fine with only a few advisors and lots of air support.

I suppose it could be to keep Taliban and Al Qaeda people from escaping, like the Pentagon says. I don't have anything against the Pakistanis, but I don't really trust them to arrest any fleeing Talibanians. The whole thing is just an odd coincidence, is all I'm saying.

Did you get Inspiration Point or The Kiss? What fruity names. Just the sort of thing I expected from Flamin' Jim Childers...

I think it was June when the DVD-ROM in my computer stopped working. I went out and bought a regular CD-ROM and a regular DVD player. I was alright, coz things worked, and worked the way they were supposed to. About a month ago my DVD player stopped working. I haven't watched any DVD movies since. I just bought Homeworld last night, coz it's a fun game. This morning my CDROM stopped working. I'm pissed. I've got about 350 bucks worth of useless electronics. I'm remembering Luke's solution to misbehaving technology, and it's looking very attractive right now.

So I've put down a security deposit for a one bedroom apartment in a new-yuppie area of houston that could easily be confused with any other major city in the country. I'm glad that I make enough money, and that I have some job security so that I can get a nice place in a safe area of town... but I'm not especially happy that I'm surrounded by chain restaurants and fitness centers and freeways. There's no indigenous character to the area like there is in smaller towns. I guess that's the positive spin of it, though. You could also say that I'm keeping away from backwards rednecks.

I think the real problem here is that I am thinking about this at all. I should just find a distraction to keep me from worrying about it, before I crack and just move away from society completely. I think I should also stop stockpiling all these guns and ammunition.
